Is Serrapeptase ‘The Miracle Enzyme’? Let’s Look at The Health Benefits and Side Effects

I first started using Serrapeptase in 2008, when I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids. After my operation, I continued to use it and realised that besides pain relief, I could use it for a  range of other health issues to keep my body feeling healthier with much more stamina. This was when my journey into the world of natural remedies began.

Little did I know back then, that it would transform me from a poorly invalid to a healthy individual in a matter of months. I remember the doctors looking at me trying to hide the looks of pity on their faces after all my blood tests came back positive for practically everything they tested me for. One doctor brazenly told me if I didn’t start taking care of myself, I wouldn’t be around much longer. I remember the way she kept shaking her head, and she wouldn’t even look me in the eyes. I knew things were bad, but I didn’t think they were that bad. At this point I started to worry.

I Seriously Needed Help!
After I got back home, I decided to research a cure for all the ailments I had at the time, and trust me, they were plenty. I was having seizures, dizziness, tingling in my hands, at times I would lose feeling in the whole of my left arm all the way down to my hand for 30 – 50 seconds, and my arm would just go floppy. Not a nice feeling. Bear in mind that my fibroids hadn’t even been diagnosed at this stage.

To be honest with you, I didn’t know what I was looking for, but I was determined to find a remedy, and it had to be herbal. I googled all sorts of sites, until 3 hours later I came across a site talking about a natural supplement that was able to cure a variety of ailments that had been around since the 1960’s and had some extraordinary successes, but best of all it was 100% herbal. My curiosity was peaked.

My Miracle Herbal Remedy

I read through this site until the early hours of the morning. My brain was like a sponge absorbing all the knowledge and testimonies. I trawled the internet finding out everything I could about this supposedly wonderful herbal remedy called Serrapeptase. Here is what I found.

Origins of Serrapeptase

Originally, this powerful enzyme was first discovered in the 1960’s by researchers studying the use of the enzyme found in the intestine of the silkworm.
Serrapeptase is a protein enzyme that accelerates biochemical reactions and combats all kinds of inflammation in the body without the dangerous side effects of conventional medication.
Serrapeptase, also called serratiopeptidase, is currently produced in Asia and Europe in clinical settings. It is also known for it’s ability to clear blocked arteries which prevents the need for by-pass operations.
Here are Just a Few of the Health Benefits of Serrapeptase

Autoimmune Disorders

By helping the body eliminate dead tissues and fibrin growths, Serrapeptase is extremely beneficial to those suffering from autoimmune disorders such as multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. One doctor diagnosed me as having the early stages of multiple sclerosis, which turned out to be wrong, or maybe it was cured by Serrapeptase, I’ll never know for sure.

Traumatic Injuries

Serrapeptase is widely used as a supplement for traumatic injuries like sprains and torn
ligaments, as well as post operation inflammations.

Aches and Pains

Serrapeptase can also be used as an analgesic for the relief of various forms of pain
experienced throughout the body. I have used it many a time for various aches and pains, rather than relying on over the counter or prescribed medication.

Blood Clots and Cysts

Serrapeptase is such a powerful natural enzyme that it can dissolve protein in the body, which can prevent the likelihood of clots and cysts forming within arteries, which can lead to a heart attack.

Ear Nose and Throat Infections

In one double-blind study, patients with acute or chronic ear, nose or throat diseases found that their symptoms became significantly less with Serrapeptase. Mucus build up also reduced significantly.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Recent studies confirm the use of Serrapeptase  is effective in the easing of carpal tunnel syndrome, according to a small study published in The Journal of the Association of Physicians of India in 1999. For the study, 20 carpal tunnel syndrome patients were given 10 mg of Serrapeptase twice daily. After six weeks of treatment, 65% of cases showed significant improvement.

What is The Best Dosage to Take?

Serrapeptase can be bought in health food stores and online.  It is recommended to take one or two capsules one to three times a day on an empty stomach, with a glass of water.  Amounts in one capsule vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.  Some have as little as 40,000 Serratiopeptidase units per capsule. Others have as much as 120,000.

Nowadays, once in a while I take 2 capsules of 80,000 units once a day. Back in 2008 I took 3 capsules 3 times a day for 2 months, then I reduced it to 2 capsules twice a day, then 2 capsules once a day until I felt I didn’t need to use it any more.

When beginning a new supplement it is always best to start with the lowest dose and increase slowly to avoid side effects or detox reactions, however, in my case I did the opposite because of the severity of my ailments. It’s up to you to use your own discretion dependent on whatever medical issue you are experiencing.

Are There Any Side Effects?

There are no known harmful side effects. However, as with any remedy, there can be consequences of overdosing, so be mindful of how much works for you.
I haven’t experienced any side effects, and I’ve been taking it on and off since 2008.
If you are taking any medication consult your doctor before you start taking Serrapeptase.

Is Serrapeptase Really The Miracle Enzyme?

Based on my experience with Serrapeptase, I can honestly attest to it’s powerful curing abilities.
Back in 2008 one month after my first visit, I revisited the hospital, and I had the same tests done. The results for all of them came back negative. The same doctor that saw me the last time could not believe that I had cured myself just in one month. She asked me what medication I was taking. I told her I wasn’t taking anything, except Serrapeptase. She asked me what that was, and I showed her the bottle.
I still remember how her face changed from a picture of pity in the previous consultation to a vision of a half smile and incredablity in this one. She was speechless, especially when I told her it was 100% herbal.

I did eventually have a minor operation to shrink the fibroids, which were found after an ultrasound, but every other ailment was gone. Another good thing was I felt no pain after the operation when I was recovering at home up until when I healed completely.

Not once did I take the  painkillers I was prescribed. I solely relied on Serrapeptase and it worked it’s magic on me.
Ever since then, I have never been without a bottle in my bathroom cabinet, or if I travel. It is one of the herbal remedies I wouldn’t be caught without. I can honestly say

that Serrapeptase gave me a new lease of life.

Hi, just wanted to leave a quick comment saying…how have I not heard of this before? I’m 35 and have been taking supplements for ages now, and this one has never even come across my radar. So, it’s created in labs after they found it in silkworms, but does it show up naturally in any of our foods? Just curious. And I live in Korea, where silkworm larvae are actually a popular street food. I haven’t tried them yet but MAYBE this will be the motivation?! Thanks for the info!

      Hi Penelope

I’m assuming since it can only be found in silkworms, it can only be found in silkworm related foods. I didn’t even know it was a delicacy in Korea or any other country for that matter. That definitely is something I’d love to do a bit more research on.

Wow that’s great how one enzyme can do so much for the body. Has there been any research to discuss the use of this product while pregnant? I have major back and leg pain (even before my pregnancy) and is really looking for something that is all natural with little to no side effects.

      Hi Liz

Yeah it really is an amazing enzyme. It can be used while pregnant. I know of a couple of women that have used it while pregnant without any issues. There’s a website called that gives you the full info of what it can do. I’ve used it over the years and I love it.

Thanks for sharing your story! My mother had uterine fibroids after she started to have menopose symptoms. These were causing her to bleed heavily. She was told to have her uterus removed to fix the problem. It would be wonderful if serrapeptase could help women to avoid surgery. I think this is a promising natural remedy. Is there any brand you recommend using? Thanks

Thanks for your interest in Serrapeptase. The brand I use is Vitacure. They are based in the UK and so am I, which makes it easier and quicker for me to get hold of. If you’re based in the States, the most popular brand I’ve seen is Amazing Formulas. It has a lot of really good reviews on Amazon. Just click on the image of the bottle on the page and it will take you to there.

I would definitely give that a go before taking any drastic measures like surgery. One of the options I was given was a hysterectomy, which I didn’t do in the end. I did an embolisation, which is a minor surgery that helps shrink the fibroids over time, but the Serrapeptase quickened the process and shrunk them in half the time.

      Best of luck

Thank you for taking the time to read about Serrapeptase. It was an eye opener for me too when I stumbled upon it in 2009. I haven’t looked back since. It’s replaced the conventional over the counter painkillers for me, and that is just one of it’s benefits.
